Centre Learning Programs

In our centre, all educators within each room collaborate to plan and organize learning experiences and programs. Following this, they actively observe the children using a variety of methods, including learning stories, photographs, conversations with parents, group observations, and direct interactions with the children.

Each child's learning journey is documented throughout the year through what we refer to as "moments" and observations. This documentation is accessible to families at all times through OWNA, ensuring transparency and easy communication between the center and families.

Our programs are woven around the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and are driven by the interests of the children and intentional teaching. Educators actively listen and observe the children, allowing them to take the lead in shaping their own curriculum. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in their child’s learning journey by contributing to the planning process or providing valuable insights.

Based on these collaborative observations and inputs from parents, educators design meaningful experiences both indoors and outdoors that aim to maximize children’s learning potential. These experiences are carefully crafted to align with the children's interests and developmental needs, fostering a rich and engaging learning environment.

Programs

What is a program and why do we have one?

At ELC Margaret River we implement a weekly program which consists of all developmentally diverse experiences we will provide the children for the week. It allows us to extend on all observed skills and abilities shown by the children. Each week the activities are linked and expanded off each other to build on skills previously learnt.

Displaying our programs allows us to showcase the various areas of development we focus on and plan for, ensuring that your children have every opportunity to grow and flourish to their fullest potential.

Individual records

What are they and why do we have them?

Each child within the centre will receive documentation of their learning throughout the year. This could be a what we call a “moment” or an observation.

These observations are clearly linked to all the 5 learning outcomes for early childhood (Early years learning framework).

Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world
Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators

These outcomes are broad and can be interpreted and related to each child specifically, along with observations based on these outcomes other forms of quality interactions, experiences and skills may be documented.

Where can you find your child’s individual records?

We use an online platform Owna to document learning and it is easily accessible at all times to families.
